What I Love About Sunday

There is nothing like some good old-fashioned Sunday relaxation. Sitting back with my Bible and a skinny vanilla latte will always bring me peace and allow me to reflect on the past week and to prepare myself for the week ahead. This is something that I wish I did on a more daily basis, but life tends to get in the way more times than what I would prefer and before I know it another week has come and gone. Being able to relax, especially after a long week, is crucial to one's happiness and even health, so I challenge all of you to find something that relaxes you this week.

"My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him. He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will never be shaken." Psalm 62:1-2

This sweatshirt is a new obsession of mine because it is made by a company that has set out to minister through their super cute tees, sweatshirts and coffee tumblers. As if the message wasn't great enough, this sweatshirt is seriously the softest and warmest sweatshirt that I have owned in awhile. I am also loving this tee and pillow from the same company!

Bottoms: American Eagle (currently on sale!)

Mixing and Matching

I really love mixing styles because it allows you to spice up your normal go-to outfits. The pearls and tweed jacket, to me, represent a super feminine look and the jeans give it a more relaxed, edgier vibe. It is really hard for me to describe my exact style because I really try to appreciate all kinds of different looks. Even though I am more drawn to super girly pieces, it is nice to mix that up every now and then with a bit of edge. Some of my favorite items to add a little more edge to any outfit are these grey skinnies linked below (love the knee-seam detail!), a great leather jacket like this one and some great booties like these (kind of obsessed!) In what ways do you change-up your outfits?

The Winter Go-To

This is one of my favorite go-to outfits for cold weather and it has been even before I knew this was classic Olivia Pope (Scandal reference-I highly recommend this series!) I can easily get my errands done in this comfy, but cute look as well as go out for a casual dinner. This is especially important for hectic days when my errands turn into an all day extravangza and I am just too tired to change for dinner out. As if being cute and convenient were not good enough, it is even super warm! The cardi-wrap is really thick and a little chunky to keep all of that body heat in and the dreadful cold OUT!

Top: Old Navy; not available online; similar here
Cardi/Wrap: Red Dress Boutique; no longer available; similar here (on super sale!)
Jeans: American Eagle (fav skinnies)

A Working Wardrobe

The journey that a woman embarks on is full of up's and down's with many different, and sometimes unexpected, adventures. I am a firm believer in dressing for the woman that you want to be and for what you want to achieve along your journey. One of the most important journeys a women will venture out on is searching for her dream job. Whether she aspires to be a writer like Carrie Bradshaw or a schoolteacher in a small town she will need a killer wardrobe (duh!). So, naturally, dressing for the job that you want is a no-brainer, right?! An outfit can say so much about you like whether you are confident, value originality and even whether or not you can take care of yourself. These are all things that bosses and colleagues alike will notice not only during the nervously awaited first interview, but also after you have secured the job. For me, a good outfit gives me confidence and it sets my attitude for the day. All of those things allows for me to have a better day (I mean, who can have a bad day in polkadots?!), allows me to concentrate better and even to produce better work. I really love this outfit because all of the pieces are so versatile and can be worn with so many other options from my closet.

P.S. The skirt is actually a hi-lo skirt that I just turned to the side to mix things up a bit. I hope you will try it out :) Also, something to have on your radar is the Life is Beautiful Blog. It was created by a co-worker of mine and it is such a great blog for the every-girl. This gorgeous girl addresses things like makeup tips, tackles DIY projects and the best part is that everything is college budget friendly! Check her out, ladies!

Pastel Me Pretty

The Pink Coat all started when I would always get asked where, what and who I was wearing. When I first started brainstorming ideas for this blog I knew I wanted it to embody anything and everything that a woman is and aspires to be while staying on a healthy budget. I want The Pink Coat to be whimsical and provide a fashionable take on everyday life adventures for the every-day girl. So slip on your pink coat and follow along as we all become the woman that we want to be!

One of my favorite things about fashion is the opportunity to do something unexpected. Taking certain seasonal trends and incorporating them into a completely different season is an easy way to recycle outfits and recreate them in a whole new way. And don't we all want to get maximum use out of our favorite splurge of the season?! One of my favorite Spring trends is wearing pastel colors so when I saw this gem of a sweater at Old Navy (currently on sale for $20!!) I just had to have it! At that point I realized that pastels are no longer just for spring, but just as popular for winter! A tip for wearing this pastel trend during winter is to make sure that the pastel pieces are paired with wintery items like scarves and coats. I fell in love with this winter trend and it got me wondering what winter trends will you be rocking?
